Regions of Central Greece High Risk for Fires
Very high fire risk (risk category 4) is forecast on Saturday for the Regions of Central Greece (Evia, Boeotia), Attica (including the island of Kythera), Peloponnese (Corinth, Argolis, Argos, Arka) , North Aegean (PE Lesvos, PE Chios, PE Samos, PE Ikaria) and South Aegean (PE kndrou, PE Thira, PE Kea — Kythnos, PE Milos, PE Mykonos, PE Naxos, PE Paros, PE Syros, PE Tinos) according to the Fire Risk Forecast Charter issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Civil Protection ( www.civilprotection.gr ).
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection states that it has informed the competent state services involved, as well as the Regions and the municipalities of the above areas, so that they are on increased civil protection readiness in order to deal immediately with any incidents of fire.
At the same time, he advises the citizens to be especially careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire by negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning debris, the use of machines that cause sparks such as circular saws, soldering irons, , smoking bees, throwing lighted cigarettes, etc. It is also reminded that the burning of fields is prohibited during the fire season.
